James McShane has worked in a variety of roles since 2011. James started their career as an Associate Instructor at Indiana University in 2011. In 2013, they co-founded Examscram, LLC, where they created and designed the website using Foundation HTML and ASP.NET. James also worked as a Faculty at Trinity School at River Ridge in 2013. In 2014, they worked as an Analyst, Development Support at Securian Financial Group. In 2015, they held two roles, first as a Senior Developer and Contractor - Continuous Delivery at Element Financial Corporation and then as a Full Stack Developer at Verisk Retail. In 2016, they moved to HealthPartners as a Senior Platform Engineer. In 2019, they joined Object Partners, Inc. as a Principal Consultant and Senior Consultant. Most recently, they were hired as an Engineering Practice Lead and DevOps Engineer at SuperOrbital in 2021.

James McShane obtained their Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Xavier University between 2006 and 2010. James then went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Mathematics from Indiana University Bloomington, which they completed in 2013. In 2018, they obtained a Kubernetes Certified Application Developer certification from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation. In 2021, they obtained a Certified Kubernetes Administrator and Certified Kubernetes Application Developer certification from The Linux Foundation.
