John Winkel is an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in software and flight controls. Currently serving as the Head of Software and Head of Flight Controls at Supernal since January 2022, John previously spent over two decades at Garmin, where roles included Manager of Software Engineering, Team Leader of Flight Controls Systems, Team Leader of Software Engineering, and Software Engineer. John's management experience includes overseeing multiple teams within aviation AFCS/autopilot specialization and driving team growth by hiring engineers for new airframe integrations. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
