Dorottya Nagy-Szakal MD PhD is a Research Assistant Professor at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine since December 2019 and serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Biotia, a New York City startup focused on precision infectious disease discovery and treatment. Nagy-Szakal's prior experience includes a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position at Columbia University, where research concentrated on pathogen discovery, the mammalian gut microbiome, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Additionally, Nagy-Szakal worked as a Postdoctoral Associate in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Baylor College of Medicine, focusing on inflammatory bowel diseases and environmental influences on pediatric diseases. Academic training includes a PhD in Clinical Medicine and a medical degree, both from Semmelweis University.
