Varand (Vern) Gharabegian has extensive experience in water management and engineering, currently working at Suncor Energy in Water Strategy & Solutions since March 2011. Prior to this role, Gharabegian served as a Project Manager at AECOM Corporation from September 2006 to March 2011, focusing on water and wastewater treatment solutions for municipal and industrial clients. Previous positions include Project Engineer at General Electric - Water & Process Solutions, where Gharabegian designed and commissioned membrane-based treatment systems, and Project Engineer at Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL), with a focus on CANDU fuel handling equipment. Early career experience includes engineering support roles at KWH Pipe Ltd, IKO, and Bombardier. Gharabegian holds an MBA from the University of Calgary and a Post Graduate Diploma in Engineering Physics from McMaster University, along with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto.
