Tom Steinke has extensive experience in the mining and training sectors, currently serving as Team Lead Learning Mobile Operations within Human Resources at Suncor since July 2015. Previously, Tom held the role of AHS Mobile Equipment Training Supervisor and served as a Shift Trainer and Backup Pit Supervisor at KMC Mining from January to June 2015, where responsibilities included employee assessments, safety training, and compliance with company procedures. Tom's career began in the late 1980s with Fording Coal and included roles as a Heavy Equipment Operator at Elk Valley Coal, where leadership in training and safety was a focal point. Throughout this time, Tom developed training programs, managed teams, and ensured adherence to safety protocols, contributing significantly to operational success and safety record advancements. Tom holds a Grade 12 diploma from the Fernie Adult Learning Center and has completed a course in Effective Meeting Management at the University of Calgary.
