Travis Taylor has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the scientific and policy fields. Travis currently serves as the Vice President at Strategic Marketing Innovations, Inc. (SMI) since 2018. Prior to this, they worked at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) as a Policy Officer and Scientific Review Officer from 2013 to 2018. Travis also owned Quadrata Science, LLC from 2012 to 2013. Travis has experience as a Science Officer at the Global Viral Forecasting Initiative from 2010 to 2012, and as a Senior Scientist at Gryphon Scientific from 2007 to 2010. Additionally, they worked as a Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the American Association for the Advancement of Science from 2005 to 2007 and as a Science Advisor at the US Department of Defense during the same period. Travis began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School from 2002 to 2005, where they conducted research on developing a herpesvirus-based West Nile virus vaccine vector and identified host cellular proteins involved in herpes simplex virus replication.
Travis Taylor earned their B.A. in Biology from the University of Southern Indiana in 1994. Travis then pursued a PhD in Virology and Microbiology at Harvard University, completing their studies in 2002.
