John Morrisette has a diverse background in environmental science and testing. John started their career as an Industrial Hygienist/Environmental Tech at Twin City Testing in 1989. In 1994, they joined Service Environmental Engineering as an Environmental Scientist. Then, in 1997, they became the President of Quality Water Services Inc., where they monitored waste water and storm water, conducted radon analysis, and worked on radon mitigation projects.

John Morrisette attended Anoka-Ramsey Community College from 1984 to 1986, where they earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree in Chemistry. John then transferred to the University of Minnesota, where they studied Chemistry from 1986 to 1988. In 2015, they obtained certifications in Radon Measurement and Radon Mitigation from the National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP).
