Michaja Heessels is a dedicated youth and family professional with extensive experience in supporting vulnerable groups, particularly young refugees. Currently employed at Sterk Huis since September 2021, Michaja serves as a KWE-begeleider, assisting young refugees aged 16-21 in building independent lives within Dutch society, and previously worked as a mentor for unaccompanied minor refugees aged 14-18. Michaja's role involves providing guidance, coaching, and facilitating collaboration among various professionals and organizations. Additionally, Michaja has experience as a coordinating youth worker at Youth for Christ Netherlands, focusing on engaging at-risk youth, and has served as a conversation leader for prospective students at Fontys Hogeschool Sociale Studies. Michaja is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Social Work at Fontys University of Applied Sciences, having previously obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from KU Leuven.
