Derek Salazar, P.E. is a Coastal Engineer currently employed at Stantec since August 2023. Prior to this role, Derek worked at Mott MacDonald as a Coastal Engineer from January 2020 to August 2023 and briefly in a similar capacity during the summer of 2019. Derek also gained experience at Texas A&M University, collaborating on a capstone project designed for an offshore crude oil import terminal in the Gulf of Mexico while assuming responsibility for the offshore pipeline and steel jacket structure design. Earlier experience includes an engineering internship at Ferris Flinn & Medina, LLC, where Derek utilized Civil 3D software for various civil engineering projects, and an operations internship at Smith & Associates, which involved inspecting electronic components. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University, obtained in 2019.
