Lauren Benson serves as the Director of Analytics for the School of Engineering at Stanford University, leading the data analytics team since February 2024. Prior to this role, Lauren held positions including Senior Manager of Research at Tonal and Associate Data Scientist at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee. Lauren's academic career includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Calgary, where research focused on using wearable devices for sports injury prevention, and various teaching roles at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, including Research Assistant, ad hoc instructor, and teaching assistant in the Kinesiology Department. Additionally, Lauren has coaching experience at both the high school and elite levels in field hockey and has taught chemistry to gifted students at Johns Hopkins University. Lauren earned a PhD and MS in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, along with a BA in Chemistry from Amherst College.
