Geoff Chan

Founder at Stack Five

Geoff Chan has a diverse work experience in the field of web development and software engineering. Geoff founded multiple companies, including Stack Five in 2018, React Libraries in 2020, and Viyo.io in 2019. In these roles, they focused on JavaScript development, UX design, and building scalable solutions for web and mobile platforms.

Prior to their entrepreneurial ventures, Geoff worked as a Software Engineer at Plexxis Software from September 2017 to August 2018. Geoff was responsible for building and maintaining enterprise React/Redux applications and implementing cross-platform solutions using Electron and Node.

Geoff also worked as a Consultant at DEV6 - A division of The New Toronto Group Inc. from August 2016 to August 2017. In this role, they built enterprise applications using HTML5, CSS3/Sass, JavaScript, AngularJS, React, Node.js, Cordova, Grunt, Gulp, and Webpack. Geoff collaborated closely with clients, managed project timelines, and worked in an agile environment.

Earlier in their career, Geoff was a Web Developer at World Vision Canada from February 2011 to August 2016. Geoff was responsible for front-end development and maintenance of web properties and applications. Geoff also worked as a Product Manager, UX, and Mobile for a three-month period in 2015, managing the front-end development team and supporting various projects and campaigns.

Geoff's work experience also includes a freelance web development role, which they pursued from June 2004 to August 2016, allowing him to gain valuable experience as a versatile web designer and developer.

Geoff Chan completed their education at two institutions. Geoff began their studies in 2004 at Sheridan College, where they pursued a degree in Art Fundamentals with a focus on Fine/Studio Arts. Geoff attended Sheridan College until 2005. Subsequently, Geoff enrolled in McMaster University, where they attained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Digital Communication and Media/Multimedia. Geoff studied at McMaster University from 2005 to 2010.
