Rev. Joseph Witmer is a retired priest of the Youngstown Diocese. A member of St. Peter Parish Canton, he was ordained for the Diocese of Youngstown fifty three years ago in 1967. Father Witmer served as an associate pastor at St. Edward's in Youngstown and at Christ the King Parish in Warren. He was the Chaplain at Walsh College and the Director of the Newman Center at Youngstown State University. From 1979 to 1987, Father Witmer served as the Assistant Director of the Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington D.C. He was Pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Aurora for 22 years and retired in 2010.
