Joe Platzer

Joe Platzer has a distinguished career in law enforcement and education. Currently serving as a Professor at St. Clair County Community College since August 2024, Joe Platzer previously held multiple leadership positions within the Port Huron Police Department from June 1988 to September 2024, including Chief, Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, and Detective. Notably, Joe Platzer led the Neighborhood Enforcement Team as a Lieutenant from April 2014 to January 2016 and managed the Major Crimes Unit as a Sergeant from January 2010 to April 2014. Educational credentials include a Master of Public Administration in Criminal Justice from the University of Michigan-Flint, as well as training from the FBI National Academy and attendance at the Michigan State University School of Staff and Command. Joe Platzer also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice/Safety Studies from Eastern Michigan University and an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice/Police Science from St. Clair County Community College.
