Carly O'Malley, PhD, CAAB, is a 3Rs Scientist at Charles River Laboratories, where research efforts focus on refining research practices to enhance animal welfare and reduce animal usage, resulting in multiple publications and ongoing projects. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, Carly promotes positive research animal welfare, and serves as Advisory Series Editor for the Animal Welfare Book Series at Springer Nature Group. Previous experience includes roles as a Science Writer and Research Assistant at Upwork, where a top-rated freelancer status was achieved, as well as content writing and management at The Good Dog Spot. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Animal Behavior and Welfare from Michigan State University and an MS in Biology from Western Illinois University.
