F.T. Burden has a range of experience in nonprofit organizations and business advocacy. From 1995 to 1998, they served as the Deputy Director of the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington. From 1998 to 2001, they were the Chief Operating Officer of the District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce, where they developed and administered a $3,000,000 annual operating budget. From 2001 to 2005, they worked as the Deputy Executive Director of AIDS Interfaith Residential Services, managing programmatic and fundraising activities and providing project management skills for property development. From 2005 to 2009, they founded and served as the Founding Executive Director of Empire Homes of Maryland, a nonprofit subsidiary of AIRS that focused on property development and management. Finally, since 2015, they have been the Chief Executive Officer of Springboard Community Services, Inc.

F.T. Burden attended Harvard Business School from 2011 to 2013, where they focused on Social Enterprise/Strategic Nonprofit Management. Prior to that, from 2007 to 2009, they pursued an MS/MBA degree at The Johns Hopkins University - Carey Business School, specializing in Organizational Development/Strategic Human Resources. They also completed a Graduate Certificate in Leadership Development Program for Minority Managers (LDP 13) at The Johns Hopkins University - Carey Business School in 2002-2003. In 1988-1992, F.T. Burden obtained a BFA from Southern Methodist University. Additionally, F.T. Burden completed the Greater Baltimore Committee-Leadership program in 2008 and the Weinberg Fellows Program in 2009.
