Mel McCall has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. They started their career at Capital One as an International HR Business Partner, where they played a crucial role in the bank's expansion to emerging markets. They also led the UK and US Shared Services Team and transformed the HR Shared Services team, delivering a 95% SLA within 3 months.
Following their tenure at Capital One, Mel McCall worked at Firth Rixson as a Senior HR Business Partner, leading performance management and capability building efforts during a VC turnaround.
They then joined Alliance Boots, where they served as the Head of Talent Acquisition and later as a Senior HR Business Partner. During their time at Alliance Boots, Mel McCall designed a new talent acquisition strategy and improved the partnering capability of the company-wide HR Partner Team.
After that, Mel McCall joined Carlsberg Group as the Global Leadership Development Director, responsible for spearheading the learning and development strategy for the group's leaders across 40 countries. They also served as the Head of HR for Carlsberg Group's UK subsidiary.
Prior to their current role, Mel McCall worked at People & Performance A/S as a Senior Consultant, providing leadership development and learning opportunities for international clients.
Currently, Mel McCall is the Global Head of Academy at Spirax Sarco, where they are responsible for aligning the academy with the company's strategy and building the capabilities of the sales teams.
Throughout their career, Mel McCall has demonstrated expertise in leadership development, talent acquisition, HR operations, and learning and development.
Mel McCall earned a BA Hons in Business Studies and Management Science from the University of Central Lancashire in 1990-1991, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from The Manchester Metropolitan University in 1993-1994. In terms of additional certifications, Mel obtained the following: Brinkerhoff High Performing Learning Journeys Practitioner certification in 2018, Jungian Type Index Practitioner Certification in 2017, Accredited Facilitator for The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team in 2017, Coaching Certificate from the International Coach Federation in 2016, Level A&B Ability & Personality testing certification from The British Psychological Society in 2010, Hogan Assessment Certificate from Hogan Assessment Systems in 2010, and became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (FCIPD) in 2009.
