Kai Li has a diverse work experience in the medical field. They started their career as a Resident of orthopaedics at the 2nd Hospital of Shanxi Medical Univ. from July 2002 to December 2006. Afterward, they worked at the same hospital as an Attending Surgeon of Orthopaedics from December 2007 to December 2012. During this time, they performed routine orthopaedic operations, assisted the Clinical Professor in complex operations, and supervised other surgeons in the group. Kai Li then joined Rhode Island Hospital as a Research Associate from January 2010 to January 2011. In 2016, they worked as a Visiting Scholar at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) from April to October. Currently, they hold the role of Chief Executive Officer at SpineGuide Technologies, Inc., starting in December 2018.

Kai Li began their education journey in 1996 at Harbin Medical University, where they earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) degree in Clinical medicine in 2001. Following this, from 2006 to 2009, Kai Li attended TongJi Medical College of HUST, obtaining a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with a specialization in Orthopedic Surgery.
