Maarij Baig currently serves as the Chief Scientific Officer at Spectra Plasmonics since October 2020, focusing on the design of Raman spectroscopy diagnostic technologies to address community health challenges, including opioid overdose in Canada. Prior to this role, Maarij was the Chief Scientific Officer at Medella Health from April 2013 to October 2020, where the development of a non-enzymatic (solid-state) glucose sensor was a key achievement, aimed at creating a competitive advantage for the company's initial investment round. Earlier, Maarij contributed as a Research Technician at the Canada Center for Inland Waters between September 2012 and April 2013, engaging in environmental protection projects and gaining experience in organic and analytical chemistry. Maarij holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Waterloo, completed in 2015.
