Mark Reisbaum is a Philanthropy Advisor for Reisbaum Consulting. Formerly, he served as the Chief Philanthropy Officer of the Contemporary Jewish Museum where he oversaw the Development function, working to build the CJM's base of philanthropic support in the Bay Area, nationally, and internationally. Previously he served as the Senior Director of Philanthropic Engagement at the San Francisco based Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund, which he joined in 1997. Having also served as Chief Endowment Officer from 2009 to 2013, Mark has overseen one of the largest Jewish community foundation programs in North America, with funds and foundations totaling nearly $1.8 billion in assets and granting over $150 million in the past year.
Mark came into the non-profit world in 1993 after a 10-year career in investment banking in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for cross-border loan syndications and project finance in North and South Asia for Citicorp Investment Bank, and New York. During his tenure Mark arranged financing for major real estate projects in Asia and the Middle East. He also served as Director of Entry-Level Training for Citicorp/Citibank in New York. He has a B.A. degree from Columbia College and a Masters in Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco.
An active community volunteer, Mark participates in the Gill Foundation's Outgiving program, a national network of LGBT and allied philanthropists, and completed a six year term on the Board of Directors of GLAAD. He is also a graduate of the Wexner Heritage Program, a 2-year cohort focusing on the development of Jewish volunteer and professional leaders throughout North America.
Mark grew up in Los Angeles, in a family that participates actively in the Jewish community and cultural arts. He and his husband, Michael Case, live in San Francisco.
