Owen Mitchell is a skilled mechanical engineer with extensive experience in aerospace and automotive engineering. Currently serving as a Starship Engineer at SpaceX since July 2024, Mitchell previously held the role of Drivetrain Engineer for Baja SAE at Johns Hopkins University, where contributions included designing a third-generation custom overrunning differential and providing mentorship to team members. Mitchell's internship at SpaceX involved the design and management of test assets for developmental programs, while prior research work was conducted under Dr. Stephan McCandliss in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Additional experience includes a mechanical engineering internship at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory focused on Guidance, Navigation, and Control systems, as well as contributions to the AstroJays rocketry team. Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and completed an Honors High School Diploma at Bozeman High School.
