Tom Bayliss

Simulation Functional Lead at Space Forge

Tom Bayliss has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Tom started their career at Shell in 2006 as a Database Programmer through a Year in Industry program. Tom then joined Alstom Grid as a Graduate Engineer in 2011. In 2013, they moved to GE Grid Solutions as a Cooling Systems Engineer, where they became the technical expert for HVDC cooling systems and successfully managed the delivery of a cooling system prototype. In 2017, they transitioned to a Lead Mechanical Engineer role at GE, leading technical projects in the HVDC Converter Valve department. Tom also actively participated in the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) during their time at GE, taking on various roles such as North West Midlands Events Coordinator, North West Midlands Young Professionals Chairman, and finally North West Midlands Vice Chairman. Currently, Tom is working at Space Forge as a Space Structural Engineer and Simulation Functional Lead.

Tom Bayliss completed their education history as follows:

- From 2018 to 2022, they attended Cranfield University, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Astronautics and Space Engineering.

- Between 2007 and 2011, they studied at Durham University and earned a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Mechanical Engineering.

- In 2009 and 2010, they also spent some time at The University of Hong Kong, focusing on Mechanical Engineering.
