Melissa Naugle

Melissa Naugle is currently a PhD student at Southern Cross University, focusing on the genetic basis of heat tolerance in coral species and collaborating with prominent organizations like the Australian Institute of Marine Science. Previous experience includes serving as a Phenotyping Analyst at the Australian Institute of Marine Science, where data on coral health was collected and analyzed. As a COVID-19 Intern at Monterey County Public Health Lab, Melissa supported testing and developed genome sequencing workflows. Academic contributions include teaching molecular biology and physiology at California State University, Monterey Bay, and completing research on coral under pollution stress in American Samoa. Additional roles at Georgetown University, The University of Western Australia, and the University of Maryland reflect a strong foundation in laboratory techniques and teaching in environmental science and policy.
