Victoria Thai

Mechanical Design Engineer at South 8 Technologies

Victoria Thai has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. Victoria started their career as a Lab Assistant at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in 2017. From there, they became involved with Engineers for a Sustainable World at UCSD, serving as Vice President of Information Management, Director of Renewable Energy Projects, and eventually Chapter President.

In 2018, Victoria worked as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Solar Turbines. The following year, they interned at Project Partners. In 2020, Victoria joined Clark Construction Group, LLC as a LEED Intern, where they worked on projects related to sustainable construction and energy efficiency.

In 2021, Victoria worked as a Research Assistant Intern at Dr. Antoni Tong Research Lab in UCSD's Center for Energy Research. Victoria conducted tests on electric vehicle batteries and collaborated with a lab-spinoff company on designing a precharge circuit.

In 2022, Victoria joined Icarus RT, Inc. as a Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager. Victoria also had a previous role at the company as an Engineering Intern. Currently, they are employed at South 8 Technologies as a Mechanical Design Engineer, starting in 2023.

Throughout their career, Victoria has demonstrated their expertise in mechanical engineering, project management, sustainable technologies, and research.

Victoria Thai earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC San Diego from 2016 to 2021. Victoria later pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering at UC San Diego from 2021 to 2022.
