Charles S. Lauer was the publisher of Modern Healthcare magazine for more than 30 years. His early career includes successful tenures as the Midwest sales manager for two McGraw-Hill trade publications, and the general sales manager, then director of communications for the American Medical Association. Mr. Lauer also held various positions with Family Media, Inc. and Petersen Publishing.
Mr. Lauer is the author of three books: Soar with the Eagles, Reach for the Stars, and Decency. He serves on the board of a number of institutions, writes regular columns for Becker’s Hospital Review and Healthcare Business Media, and makes regular presentations to audiences across the United States.
He was the recipient of the 2004 American Institute of Architects’ Academy of Architecture for Health’s Michael E. DeBakey Award for Achievement in Healthcare. He won the National Healthcare Award from B’nai B’rith International and was named an Honorary Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Mr. Lauer is also a member of the Studer Group Hall of Fame, which honored him for his focus on the patient experience of care.
