Michael Karicher

Chief People Officer at Sonida Senior Living

Michael Karicher has a diverse work experience that spans several industries. Michael is currently serving as the Chief People Officer at Sonida Senior Living since January 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Consultant at Karicher Consulting Services in 2022. From 2015 to 2022, they held the position of Executive Vice President Human Resources at Remington Hotels/Ashford Hospitality.

In 2004, they joined Golden Living and served as the Senior Vice President– Chief Human Resources Officer. During their tenure, they were responsible for various functions, including recruitment and retention, organizational development, change management, compensation and benefits, training, communication, employee and labor relations, and employment regulations and compliance. Michael also played a significant role in the relocation and consolidation project to the Dallas area, generating annual savings of $5M. Moreover, they mentored and trained numerous employees, supporting their professional growth to become CEOs or CHROs.

Before Golden Living, Michael worked at Strong Financial as the Director of Compensation & Benefits/HR Manager & Business Partner where they led a team in designing and implementing strategic benefits and compensation plans. Michael partnered with various business units and leaders to align the incentive structure with organizational growth objectives.

Michael'scareer also includes positions at KPMG US as a Manager in Personal Financial Planning, Verizon as a Manager in Executive Compensation & Benefits and Senior Specialist in Executive Compensation and Benefits, and EY as a Senior Staff Auditor.

Michael Karicher received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business & Economics, with a specialization in Accounting, from Lehigh University. Michael also obtained a certification as a Certified Public Accountant from the California Franchise Tax Board in 1996.
