Ms. Chartrand has been co-owner, since 1995 with her spouse, of a pork business in St-Zéphirin de Courval in the Centre-du-Québec region. It is a farrowing-type operation, with a herd of 650 sows weaned in groups every 4 weeks and 135 acres of land.
Her company has been working for several years, aiming for responsible agriculture and harmonious cohabitation.
Ms. Chartrand holds a DEC from ITA Saint-Hyacinthe in animal production. She also took courses in administration at UQTR.
She has worked in several fields related to agriculture; environment, consulting services, a technician in a cooperative, etc. She has been actively involved in various organizations such as the management union, the Holstein club, and agriculture succession groups as well as in the school field. She has been involved with Desjardins for over 24 years. She holds the position of Vice-President of the Caisse Desjardins of Nicolet. She is also involved in the UPA on several levels. She sits on the council of the Éleveurs de porcs du Centre-du-Québec of Centre-du-Québec as well as on the regional UPA and sits there as an administrator, member of the executive, and treasurer.
