Gary Byrge has extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical and chemical industries. Currently serving as a Senior Process Development Associate at Solazyme, Inc. since November 2010, Gary focuses on downstream process development and scaling up manufacturing processes within the algal biotech sector. Previous roles include Senior Pilot Plant Technician at Roche from July 1995 to July 2010 and Pilot Plant Operator at Syntex Corp. from January 1985 to January 1995, where responsibilities included assisting in chemical operations and preparing multi-kilogram quantities of synthetic drug intermediates. Educational qualifications include an Associate of Science in Business Management from Cañada College and coursework in Business Management, Business, and Chemistry from Foothill College, along with studies at the University of Minnesota-Rochester.
