Gregory P. Fontana, MD, FACC, FACS, currently serves as the Director on the Board of Directors for The Society of Thoracic Surgeons and holds multiple leadership roles at HCA Healthcare as the National Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery and the National Medical Director of Cardiovascular Research and Innovation since April 2016. Fontana also functions as the Medical Director of Cardiovascular Research at the HRI-HCA Research Institute/Sarah Cannon Research Institute, as well as the Director and Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the CardioVascular Institute. Prior experience includes positions as an Attending Cardiac Surgeon at St John's Health Center, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine, and Managing Director at Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute. Fontana's extensive education includes a Doctor of Medicine degree from Duke University School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, Riverside.
