Kirk Butts is an accomplished communications professional with a diverse background in marketing, public relations, and content creation. Currently serving as Director of Communications at Smash My Trash® since June 2021, Kirk has played a key role in disrupting the commercial waste industry. Prior experience includes a position as Senior Communications Associate at Indiana University Health, where strategic internal communications were executed, and as Senior Public Affairs Specialist for the City of Durham, focusing on community relations and public information. Additionally, Kirk has a strong foundation in freelance writing, producing B2B and B2C materials, as well as managing grants at Barton College. Early career highlights include roles as a News Producer and Web Producer at local news stations, demonstrating expertise in live broadcasting and content management. Kirk holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Indiana University Bloomington.
