Jay Cate began their work experience in 1989 as a Sales Representative at Data Supplies, Inc., where they worked until January 2016. In 2016, they joined Smart Source, LLC as an Account Executive and their employment there is ongoing.

Jay Cate obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics from The University of Tennessee Knoxville, completing their education from 1981 to 1986.
