Tom Tan currently serves as the Head of AI, Data Platform Infra at SmartNews, Inc. since 2020 and is an advisor at Kwaai AI Lab, a nonprofit organization focused on democratizing Artificial Intelligence. Previously, Tom was the VP of Engineering at Cloudwalk from 2018 to 2020, where responsibilities included leading the engineering efforts to develop an AI/ML platform and providing AI/ML-based SaaS services. Tom also held the position of Director at Apple Inc. from 2005 to 2018, where significant contributions included spearheading machine learning applications in time-series anomaly detection and root cause analysis. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Caltech and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business.
