Corporate Relations Expert. Mary Stutts is the Global Chief Inclusion and Health Equity Officer at Real Chemistry, a global health innovation company, where she leads diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy. She previously served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations for Sumitovant Biopharma, a global biopharmaceutical company.
During the course of her career, Ms. Stutts has provided global corporate relations leadership in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and media industries including Genentech, Bristol Myers Squibb, Bayer, UnitedHealth Group, Kaiser Permanente, Stanford Healthcare, and Comcast NBCUniversal. She has more than 30 years of extensive experience leading strategic transformations in the face of rapid technology and market changes and executing multi-faceted campaigns in dynamic, high stakes competitive environments.
Ms. Stutts has a successful track record as a C-Level global branding and growth expert leading product marketing communications from early research to blockbuster status for brands including Genentech’s Avastin, Rituxan, Xolair, and Lucentis during a pivotal period of the company’s history when revenue and profit grew five-fold. Her unique approach of integrating stakeholder engagement into every facet of a corporation to create internal and external environments conducive to growing businesses and brands while increasing shareholder value has made her a sought-after executive, consultant, and advisor to numerous companies. She contributes insight, innovative ideas, and strategic counsel derived from a blend of corporate executive experience, consulting, and board membership.
In addition, as the former Chief Inclusion, Diversity & Health Equity Officer at Stanford Health Care (SHC), Ms. Stutts brings a deep understanding and experience executing the strategic business case for maximizing inclusion and diversity as key growth levers and brand enhancers. Ms. Stutts’ role at Stanford was commissioned by the SHC Board of Directors and she worked directly with the Board and executive committee to build the program while curating a one-of-a-kind Inclusive Leadership Program for Stanford’s leaders. The program is recognized for its unique approach to developing executives and board members capable of leading and growing while transforming to address racial injustice and inequity amongst all stakeholders including employees, patients, and communities.
Growing up as a foster child from the age of five led Stutts to form The Center for Excellence in Life (TCEL), a 501c3 organization focused on developing women and underrepresented youth aspiring to leadership positions.
Ms. Stutts serves on the Board of Directors of Zogenix, a growing U.S.-based pharmaceutical company, and on the Advisory Board of Wellist, a leading provider of integrated patient experience solutions. She is also a Member of the National Basketball Wives Association’s (NBWA) Professional Advisory Board.
Ms. Stutts earned a Master’s degree in Health Administration at the University of Southern California and is also a graduate of the Executive Program on Strategy and Organization at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
