Owen Bissell has worked in the film and video industry since 2005. Owen began their career as a Cinematographer for Natural VIP Productions, before becoming a Freelance Filmmaker for Turn Here in 2007. In 2009, they added Freelance Videographer for Pottery Barn to their resume. In 2010, they were Owner and Director of Photography for Fast and Light Productions, as well as Director of Photography for LMNO Productions. In 2011, they worked as a Wildlife Cameraman - Freelance for National Geographic Channel and Cinematographer for Freshwaters Illustrated. In 2017, they began working as a Director of Photography for Spine Films, and in 2019, they began working as a Director of Photography for Slay Agency.

Owen Bissell attained a Bachelor of Science in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution from UC San Diego between 1998 and 2002. Owen then went on to obtain a Master of Fine Arts in Science and Natural History Filmmaking from Montana State University-Bozeman between 2002 and 2005. Additionally, they have obtained a FAA Drone Part 107 certification.
