Doug Dobson has a diverse work experience in various fields. Doug served as a Board of Directors member at the University of West Florida Foundation since 2011. From 2009, they worked as the Chief Flight Instructor at SkyWarrior INC, Flight Training. Prior to that, they had a career in the U.S. Department of State as a Foreign Affairs Officer, where they held various management and interfunctional positions in multiple overseas posts for 24 years. Additionally, they were the first Regional Director for the Office of Foreign Missions in Houston, Texas. Dobson also worked as a Flight Simulator Instructor at Burnside-Ott Aviation from 1980 to 1984.
Doug Dobson attended Marquette University from 1969 to 1973, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English Language and Literature/Letters. Following that, they enrolled in the Naval Air Training Command from 1973 to 1974, where they earned the degree of Naval Aviator with a focus on Tactical Jet. In addition to their academic achievements, Doug also obtained certifications such as a Fight Instructor in Airplane, Instrument Airplane, and Multi-Engine Airplane from the FAA in January 2012, and a Commercial Pilot in single and multi-engine land from the FAA in September 1974.
