Sami Tuhkanen has extensive work experience in the investment and clean energy sectors. Sami started their career at Helsinki University of Technology as a Research Assistant before moving on to VTT as a Research Scientist. During their time at VTT, they focused on projects related to energy system modelling, renewable energy, and waste management. Following this, Sami worked at Tekes as a Senior Technology Adviser, where they evaluated R&D funding applications, managed funded projects, and built international networks.
In 2006, Sami joined Sitra, where they held various roles including Senior Lead, Director of Investments, and Vice President of Investments. In these positions, they oversaw the venture capital and business development teams, managed Sitra's investments portfolio, and served as chairman of the internal investment committee.
