Sherelyn Alejandro Merchan is a dedicated researcher currently working at the American Museum of Natural History, focusing on spectral energy distributions for brown dwarfs and contributing to the SIMPLE-db archive. With experience in leading a computing community at the Simons Foundation and completing an NSF-REU internship at the Maria Mitchell Association, Sherelyn has demonstrated strong leadership and technical skills in astrophysics and coding. Past roles include Vice President of Women in Computer Science at Hunter College, participation in data science programs, and engagement with the New York City Commission on Human Rights. Sherelyn is pursuing a PhD in Physics at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, after earning a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Hunter College.
