Libby McGuire

Senior Vice President and Publisher, Atria Publishing Group at Simon & Schuster

Libby McGuire was named Senior Vice President, Publisher of the Atria Publishing Group in April 2018. In her role she has responsibility for all the editorial and publishing activities of the group’s various hardcover and trade paperback imprints.

The Atria Publishing Group is the publishing home of many major bestselling authors including Isabel Allende, Fredrik Backman, Rhonda Byrne, Vince Flynn, Terry Hayes, Colleen Hoover, Joseph Kanon, Thomas Keneally, Karen Kingsbury, William Kent Krueger, John Lescroart, Shirley MacLaine, Kate Morton, Dr. Michael Mosley, Brad Thor, Jennifer Weiner and Zane.

Ms. McGuire began her publishing career in 1992 in various positions at HarperCollins, before becoming a national account manager at Simon & Schuster. She joined Random House in 2000, where she was eventually named Executive Vice President and Publisher of Ballantine Bantam Dell. At Ballantine Bantam Dell, Ms. McGuire oversaw the publication annually of a list heavy with New York Times bestsellers, in fiction and nonfiction, from both new and established authors, and published the first Pulitzer Prize–winning book in Bantam’s history, TOMS RIVER by Dan Fagin. Notable and bestselling authors published under Ms. McGuire’s direction include Lee Child, Daniel Coyle, Rocco DiSpirito, Janet Evanovich, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Emily Giffin, Ashley Judd, Jonathan Kellerman, Dean Koontz, Debbie Macomber, Jodi Picoult, Leah Remini, Jenny Sanford and Danielle Steel. Ms. McGuire was also responsible for the group’s licensed publishing programs ranging from the “Star Wars” franchise to ESPN Books, and imprints including One World, Presidio Press and Del Rey.

Prior to joining Simon & Schuster, Ms. McGuire was a literary agent at The Gernert Company.

Ms. McGuire is a graduate of Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. She is on the board of Women’s Media Group, and lives in Manhattan with her family.
