Johan De Fraye has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Johan'smost recent role is as a Mission Board Member for the Soil Deal for Europe Mission at the European Commission. Prior to this, they worked at Signify as the Global Head of Environment, Health, Safety and Remediation, where they provided leadership to the corporate EHS and remediation team. Johan also served as the Head of Environmental Affairs at Signify and Philips Lighting, managing their global portfolio of contaminated land and infrastructure. Johan De Fraye has also held positions at the Abundant Environment Foundation as Vice-President of the Board, NICOLE as Chair, and CH2M HILL as Programme Manager and Managing Director & Board Member. Johan started their career at GERLING-KONZERN ALLGEMEINE VERSICHERUNGS-AG as a Senior Consultant and worked as an Environmental Engineer at Constructies, Elektriciteitswerken & Industriebouw (C.E.I.), where they were responsible for a research programme on contaminated sediments.
Johan De Fraye holds a Master of Science degree in Geology/Earth Science, General, which was obtained from KU Leuven from 1985 to 1987. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the same institution, from 1983 to 1985. Johan'ssecondary education was completed at Sint-Pieterscollege from 1977 to 1983, where they focused on Classics (Latin & Greek). In addition to their academic qualifications, Johan has also obtained certifications in areas such as LEAN for Office - Advanced from Signify in 2020, UN Principles of Responsible Investment from Principles for Responsible Investment in 2019, and Leading High Performance Teams from CH2M in 2010.
