Tobias Heckel

Project Lead Research, Development And Innovation at Siemens Healthineers

Tobias Heckel has a diverse work experience in various industries. Tobias started their career in 2003 at the International Max Planck Research School for Molecular Cell Biology and Bioengineering, where they obtained their PhD in 2008. Tobias then worked as a Research Scientist for Genomics and Rare Event Detection at F. Hoffmann La-Roche from 2008 to 2010. Following that, they served as a Senior Scientist in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the same company from 2010 to 2016. Tobias then joined HEIDENHAIN CORPORATION as a Product Development Manager from 2016 to 2019. After that, they worked as the Core Unit Head for Systems Medicine: NGS-Solutions and Bioinformatics at The Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg from 2019 to 2020. Currently, they are employed at Siemens Healthineers as the Team Lead Multi-Omics Biomarker and Senior Key Expert Clinical Diagnostic Pathways, where they lead an interdisciplinary team focused on driving innovation development in the field of oncology, neuroscience, and infectious diseases.

Tobias Heckel earned a PhD in Cell Biology, Proteomics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, and Bioinformatics from the Technische Universität Dresden from 2003 to 2008. Prior to that, they completed an honors thesis at The Australian National University in 2002. Tobias also received a Dipl.-Biochem. degree in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Toxicology, and Neurobiology from the University of Tübingen from 1997 to 2002.
