Joseph Makhandal Champagne

Mr. Champagne earned his juris doctor degree from Vermont Law School. Upon graduation, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Wendell E. Daniels, J.S.C., of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Ocean County. Soon thereafter, Mr. Champagne opened his own practice in New Jersey focusing primarily on immigration, criminal, personal injury, worker’s compensation, and family laws. He is a member of the Ocean County Bar Association, New Jersey Bar Association, and American Immigration Lawyers. He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey Supreme Court, The United States District Court, The Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals of the United States of America.

Mr. Champagne also holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a concentration on pre-medical science studies from Columbia University.

Mr. Champagne is committed and passionate about serving his constituency, community, and humanity. Over the years, he has served on several advisory committees and many boards. He was appointed by Assignment Judge Lawrence M. Lawson to the Superior Court Monmouth County Judiciary Advisory Committee on minority concerns. Mr. Champagne was the assistant to the Public Policy Counsel and Executive Director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law in Washington, D.C., and a founding member and an executive board officer of the National Haitian-American Elected Officials Network Inc.
