Katie Parkinson

Director, Domestic Violence & Supportive Housing at Shelter House

Katie Parkinson is an experienced professional in the fields of domestic violence support, housing, and education. Currently serving as Program Director and previously as Assistant Program Director at Shelter House, Inc. since December 2020, Katie has a strong background in supportive housing and crisis intervention. Prior to this, Katie worked as a Research Consultant with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and held various educational roles, including Teacher Mentor and Trainer at VIPKID, Education Program Coordinator at the African Refugee Development Center, and Social Studies Teacher with the District of Columbia Public Schools. Katie holds a Master of Science in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies from The London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Political Science from Indiana University Bloomington. Additionally, Katie has participated in a study abroad program at the University of Cape Town.
