Melanie Coombs is a seasoned producer with extensive experience in the film and television industry. Currently serving as a producer at ShadowMachine since December 2016, Coombs has contributed to notable projects, including the stop motion animation TV series In the Know for NBCU/Peacock and as a co-producer on Guillermo del Toro's acclaimed Pinocchio, which won the 2023 Academy Award. Coombs is also a joint owner and producer at OPTIMISM, a film production company established in May 2011, recognized for successful projects such as the Audience award-winning documentary GRACEFUL GIRLS. Additionally, Coombs has a long-standing role as a producer and company director at Melodrama Pictures Pty Ltd and previously held various positions in the industry, including production manager and executive assistant. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production and Screen Studies from the University of Technology Sydney and an Extension Certificate in Producing from the Australian Film Television and Radio School.
