Curtis Smith

Chief Petroleum Engineer at Sfile Technology

Curtis Smith has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on reservoir engineering and completions. Curtis began their career as a Project Manager at Corelab - Pencor, where they managed a technical group and worked on in situ property analysis tools. Curtis then moved on to Honeywell Process Solutions, where they served as a Senior Petroleum Engineer and integrated control systems for well test analysis.

Afterwards, Curtis joined Marathon Oil Corporation as an Advanced Reservoir Engineer, conducting reserve training, audits, and reviews. Curtis also supported business development and proposed stochastic resource evaluation approaches for exploration plays.

Curtis then transitioned to Object Reservoir, where they held roles as a Sr. Completions and Reservoir Engineer, Project Manager, and Technical Lead. Curtis provided consultation services for conventional and unconventional plays, collaborating with major companies both in the United States and Argentina.

Before that, Curtis worked at Noble Energy as a Sr. Reservoir and Completions Engineering Advisor. Curtis played a key role in developing unconventional shale assets, implementing integrated workflow and evaluation tools for multiple onshore plays.

Curtis also has experience as a Reservoir and Completions Engineer Consultant, where they developed gas storage field assessment programs and taught courses on enhanced oil recovery. Curtis has worked on multiple projects for different companies, including Maersk Oil, where they served as a Technical Team Lead and Reserve Coordinator.

Finally, Curtis worked at ONGC VIDESH CENTER OF EXCELLENCE as a Principal Reservoir and Completions Engineer, evaluating assets for acquisition and implementing best practices across global assets. Their expertise includes geomechanical modeling, frac optimization, and rate transient analysis.

In their most recent position at EAP, Curtis served as a Subsurface Advisor, conducting analyses on wells, implementing diagnostic techniques, and establishing automated systems for field use. Curtis also contributed to business development evaluations and collaborated with the University of Calgary on joint projects.

Curtis Smith earned their Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. Curtis attended the university from 1991 to 1996. Additionally, they obtained certification as an Engineer In Training from the Missouri Board of Architectures and Engineers in May 1996.
