Bryan Roth

Scientific Advisor at Septerna

Bryan Roth is a scientific advisor at Septerna and an adjunct assistant professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Bryan's research focuses on discovering novel chemical matter for understudied GPCRs in the brain, thereby allowing us to illuminate the (patho)physiology of these potential drug targets. Bryan has also generated signaling fingerprints for different GPCR agonists across all human transducers to reveal unappreciated biased signaling profiles.

Prior to their current positions, Roth was a HHMI post-doctoral research associate at Duke University Medical Center, where their post-doctoral research focused on developing a molecular and atomic level understanding of biased signaling downstream of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Bryan also worked on the Psychoactive Drug Screening Program at Case Western Reserve University from 2002 to 2003.

Bryan Roth received their postgraduate degree in GPCR molecular pharmacology from Duke University School of Medicine. Bryan then went on to get their PhD in biochemistry/molecular pharmacology from Case Western Reserve University. Finally, they completed their undergraduate studies in microbiology/biochemistry from The Ohio State University.
