Afonso Ferreira has a diverse work experience, starting with their role as the CEO of Sensaway, a position they held since March 2017. Afonso also participated in the Hatch Blue program as the CEO of Sensaway starting from April 2018. Before that, from April 2017 to March 2018, they were involved in the StartUp Voucher program at StartUP Portugal. Prior to their work with StartUP Portugal, they were a self-employed Software and Business Consultant from April 2016 to March 2017. Afonso also worked as a Private Equity Analyst at Oxy Capital from September 2015 to March 2016. Afonso's earlier experience includes serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Plataforma Reset from December 2013 to December 2015.

Afonso Ferreira began their education in 2008 at Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa, where they completed their first year of Bachelor studies. From 2009 to 2012, they attended Instituto Superior Técnico and received a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering. In 2012, they continued their studies at Delft University of Technology, pursuing a Double Degree program in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on Control and Simulation. Afonso completed this program in 2013. In the following two years, from 2013 to 2015, Afonso attended Instituto Superior Técnico once again, this time in collaboration with TU Delft, where they obtained a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering with a specialization in Control and Simulation.
