CTO And VP Of Technical Programs at SEMI

Melissa Grupen Shemansky has extensive work experience in the semiconductor industry. Melissa currently holds the position of CTO and VP of Technical Programs at SEMI since June 2021. Prior to that, they were the CTO of Flexible Electronics & Advanced Packaging at SEMI starting from March 2016.

Before joining SEMI, Melissa worked at ANS Inc as the SVP Engineering from November 2011 to March 2016. Melissa also had significant roles in Spansion, starting as the VP of advanced package technology and design engineering from February 2005 to June 2010. During their time at Spansion, they were responsible for product package design, simulation, strategic roadmapping, and R&D in advanced packaging technologies. Melissa also held a position in Strategic Marketing and Product Family Management from June 2010 to December 2011.

Earlier in their career, Melissa worked at Lucent, Bell Labs / Agere as the Director of Package & Interconnect Technology from April 1999 to September 2004. In this role, they implemented flip chip processes and assembly manufacturing and managed various aspects of advanced package technology development. Melissa also worked on prototype assembly pilot lines, wire bond innovations, and production package design.

Melissa's career started at Motorola in May 1989, where they held various positions within the SPS division. As the Senior Manager of Advanced Interconnect Technologies, they focused on silicon R&D, GaAs manufacturing, and advanced packaging. Their responsibilities included flip chip, wafer-level packaging, copper interconnect, low alpha, RF power packaging, and Pb-free development and transfer to manufacturing.

Melissa Grupen Shemansky obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) degrees in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University. Melissa pursued further education and earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemical Engineering from Arizona State University.
