Rita Carmichael has over a decade of experience in education, currently serving as a 5th Grade Teacher at Selma City Schools since August 2011, where responsibilities include preparing detailed lesson plans for math, reading, and writing. Rita is also involved as an AMSTI Science and AMSTI Math Certified educator, ensuring effective teaching of strategies and curriculum aligned with the Alabama Course of Study. Additionally, Rita contributes as a STEM Instructor in the 21st Century After School Program and has served as a ClassDojo Mentor, training other educators. Prior experience includes teaching preschool at Selma City Schools and presenting at a STEM conference for young girls. Rita holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Concordia College-Selma.
