Wilm van Bekkum has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Wilm started their career as a Medical Representative at Servier, where they achieved recognition as the best sales representative in the organization. Wilm then progressed to the role of Field Manager, managing and coaching a team of sales representatives who consistently outperformed targets. Eventually, Wilm became the General Manager of Sales for Servier in the Netherlands, where they were responsible for strategic planning, change management, and human resources management. Wilm developed a five-year strategic sales plan and effectively implemented it through performance management of a sales team.

After their time at Servier, Wilm transitioned to roles in the nonprofit sector, starting as a Management Adviser at GreenHill in Bangladesh. Wilm provided strategic advice and coordination in various program areas, including water and sanitation, micro-finance, governance, and fundraising. Wilm successfully improved livelihoods in rural areas through capacity-building programs and the establishment of village development committees.

Wilm then worked as a Course Development Trainer at VSO, where they developed an online training module on organizational development and capacity building. Wilm trained and mentored staff and partners in the effective utilization of the module.

Later, Wilm became a Program Manager at TradeAid in Tanzania, where they played a key role in setting up community development programs, creating awareness, and providing support to local entrepreneurs in starting their businesses.

Wilm further expanded their expertise by taking a role as a Program Manager in Southern Sudan for Solid House Foundation. Here, they set up an international NGO, developed a comprehensive two-year program framework for a water and sanitation initiative, and built networks with donors and government officials.

Wilm's consultative skills were utilized during their time as a Consultant for Banbury Young Homeless People and Banbury Citizen Advice Bureau. Wilm contributed to strategic planning, program coordination, and training and educational support for young homeless individuals. Wilm also participated in marketing and fundraising activities.

Currently, Wilm is working at Self Help Africa as the Head of Monitoring and Evaluation. Wilm manages and coordinates the M&E teams in Ireland and at the country level, leads the mainstreaming of results-based management, and focuses on strategic planning, program reviews, and quality control. Wilm continuously improves M&E systems, approaches, and methodologies.

Overall, Wilm has demonstrated their ability to lead and coordinate teams, develop and implement strategic plans, provide support and recommendations, and improve program effectiveness.

Wilm van Bekkum has an extensive education history. Wilm pursued their earliest education at De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences, where they obtained a degree in First/Teachers, specializing in Physical Education, from 1984 to 1988. Following this, they attended NIMA in 1997 and 1998, earning a NIMA-B in Marketing Management.

Wilm then pursued further education at The Open University from 2006 to 2011, completing a post-graduate diploma in International Development Management. Later, from 2007 to 2011, they also obtained an MSc in International Development Management from the same university.

In 2012, Wilm attended Evidence for Development, focusing on rural appraisals. During this time, they achieved the IHM Individual Household Method Level V Supervisor certification, which they completed in 2015.

Most recently, in 2020 and 2021, Wilm attended Bath SDR Ltd to become a QuIP (Quip Qualitative Impact Protocol) Evaluator, specializing in evaluating the qualitative impact of various protocols.

In addition to their formal education, Wilm also holds a certification in Duolingo French Fluency, which they obtained in December 2015.
