Kai Waelti has an extensive work experience in the fields of software engineering, machine learning, and research. In 2020, they began working as a Machine Learning Engineer & Researcher at Sedimentum AG, a Swiss healthcare start-up, as well as a Lecturer at Universität Luzern and a Research Associate at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. In 2019, they were a Researcher and Junior Researcher at the Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI). From 2016 to 2019, they were a Research Assistant at Hochschule Luzern. From 2013 to 2016, they worked as an IT Technician and Retail Security Employee at Detektei Mueller GmbH. In 2009, they were a Human Resources Intern at the Swiss Federal Office of Sports.

Kai Waelti obtained a Commercial Professional Baccalaureate from BFB Bildung Formation Biel-Bienne in 2010-2011. Kai then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science from Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, which they completed in 2016. Kai followed this up with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Engineering from the same institution, which they completed in 2019.
