Spencer Shimko has been working in the information security industry since 2002. Spencer began their career as an IT at the Community College of Baltimore County. In 2005, they joined Tresys Technology as a Lead Engineer, where they focused on developing security solutions built on Security Enhanced Linux and Security Enhancements for Android. In 2013, they founded Quark Security and continued to do research and development in the mobile security and cross domain solution industries. In 2019, they joined Sealing Technologies Inc. as a Principal Software Security Engineer.

Spencer Shimko attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County from 1997 to 2001, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
